After looking on the website under the public records tab, I was shocked to see some clear problems with the way A.P.D. handles their public records requests. Photo ID or identification of any kind is not required by law to access public records, but A.P.D. states clearly that they need photo ID for such a request. Members of the public have the right to gather information about what public officials do on public property and do not need to show ID under the law. I could also stress the cost of accessing public records, as 50 cents per page is rather unreasonable.
